GRANT TO BUY ADS TO ATTRACT TOURISTS

The Convention and Visitors Bureau of the Wytheville-Wythe-Bland Chamber of Commerce has received a $4,855 grant from the Virginia Department of Economic Development to pay for magazine advertising aimed at attracting tourists.

The bureau - made up of representatives of the chamber's Tourism Committee and members from the town of Wytheville - promotes the area through sales missions, trade shows, direct-mail campaigns and advertisements.

The grant will help pay for ads in the Virginia is for Lovers Travel Guide, Virginia Group Tour Guide and Virginia Conference Guide.

Additional advertising next spring is planned in Southern Living, Mid-Atlantic Country and Blue Ridge Country magazines. The bureau will hold a meeting of its members at 3 p.m. Jan. 13 at the Wytheville Municipal Building.
