HOLISTIC HEALTH FORUM OFFERED

A community forum on holistic health will be presented from 7 to 9 p.m. Jan. 9 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church by two authors of a book on the subject.

Dr. William Fintel, a cancer specialist at Lewis-Gale Regional Cancer Center in Salem, and Gerald McDermott, professor of religion at Roanoke College, are the authors of "A Medical and Spiritual Guide to Living with Cancer."

Fintel is a consultant at Duke University and the University of Virginia Medical School, a medical director of Good Samaritan Hospice in Roanoke and a consultant to other medical boards and societies. McDermott - who has been a school principal, college professor, church pastor, author and lecturer - has worked in bio-medical ethics and as a counselor to cancer patients and their families. They became friends through a common interest in the healing process, and their friendship led to the recently published book.

The forum is free to the public. It is being offered by Holy Trinity and Hospice Services of Bland-Wythe County.
