U. OF WISCONSIN TOP PEACE CORPS RECRUITER

The University of Wisconsin-Madison is tops in the nation in recruiting new graduates to help people in other countries, with 351 Peace Corps volunteers in seven years.

That ranking is due to UW's reputation for "being globally aware and globally active," said Karen Phillips, manager of the Peace Corps' regional recruiting office in Minneapolis.

Don Sauer, past president of a group of 180 former Peace Corps volunteers who live in the Madison area, linked UW's No. 1 ranking to its liberal tradition, good recruiters and other influences.
