OBIT-SHEPHERD, HAROLD L.
SHEPHERD, Harold L., 85, of Vinton, died Sunday, January 2, 1994. He was
born in Blacksburg and was a member of the Vinton Baptist Church, where he was
a lifetime Deacon and served as an usher for many years. Mr. Shepherd retired
from the N & W Railway, with 47 years of service. He is survived by his wife,
Frances M. Shepherd, Vinton; daughters and sons-in-law, Aileen and David
McLeod, Vinton, Jean and Otto Counts, High Point, N.C.; grandson, David B.
McLeod, Albany, Ga.; granddaughter, Melody A. McLeod, Vinton; great-grandson,
David B. McLeod Jr., Albany, Ga.; sister, Mae Cox, Blacksburg; brothers,
Sidney Shepherd, Roanoke, Ira ("Sam") Shepherd, Tampa, Fla., and several
nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 5,
1994, at Vinton Baptist Church, with the Rev. Kevin Meadows, the Rev. David
Elks, and the Rev. William E. Hungate officiating. Burial will follow in
Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton. Friends may call at Oakey's Vinton Chapel,
Tuesday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
