OBIT-SPARKS, JAMES U., ("SPARKY")

SPARKS, James U., ("Sparky"), 53, of Bland, formerly of Buchanan Co., Va., died Monday, January 3, 1994, at his home. He was born in Grundy, Va., a son of the late Fred and Chloe Short Sparks. He was owner of the T. J. Trucking Company in Welch, W.Va. Survivors include his widow, Shirley Dotson Sparks, Bland; two daughters, Mrs. Diane Eaton, Ms. Thelma White, both of Bland; five sisters, Ms. Lucille Keene, Tazewell; Mrs. Minnie Prater, Chicago, Ill., Ms. Rosalee Nuckolls, Bluefield, Va., Mrs. Phyllis Horne, Wilmington, Del., Ms. Gaynell Sparks, Richlands; a granddaughter, Jamie Lee White, Bland; a grandson, James Robert Hoge Eaton, Bland; a stepgrandson, Glenn Eaton, Wytheville; a stepgreat-grandson, Zachary Eaton, Wytheville. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, in the Newberry Funeral Home Chapel in Bland, with the Rev. David Wall officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens, Richlands. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday. The family requests that memorials be made to the Hospice Association, P.O. Box 381, Wytheville, Va. 24382. Newberry Funeral Home in Bland is in charge of arrangements.
