BOND DENIED FOR SUSPECT IN ODU KILLING

Derek R. Barnabei, 26, made his first appearance in a Norfolk court Monday after being captured in Ohio. He is charged with the Sept. 22 slaying of Sara J. Wisnosky.

The body of Wisnosky, a freshman from Lynchburg, was found floating in the Lafayette River. She had been stabbed and beaten. She was last seen visiting Barnabei's apartment, police said.

Barnabei was arrested Dec. 19 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

His next scheduled court appearance is Feb. 24.
