PULASKI COMMUNITY HOSPITAL IS NEARLY FULL PAUL DELLINGER

Pulaski Community Hospital has been kept nearly full of patients in recent weeks, but is having no problems accommodating them so far.

The hospital is licensed for 153 beds. Currently, though, it is opening and closing some because of various construction projects that will improve service once they are completed, lowering the number of available beds at times to 70 or 80.

"We still have some beds available," said Karen Wohlford, chief nursing officer. "We have been hovering around full for some time now . . . It's run pretty much what we would expect."

There is no particular reason for the surge in patients, no virus or upsurge in births or anything like that, she said.

"It's not that unusual. It's just what we expect to have at this time of year," she said.
