The denial is now official from Monaco's royal family, nixing that rumor about Prince Rainier and David Niven's widow, Hjordis, and a spring wedding. "One wonders how such a completely baseless rumor managed to spread," royal spokeswoman Jacqueline Berti, director of the tiny principality's media center, said Tuesday.

"No regrets. Early on, it gave me something to write about, an area of expertise that I could draw upon, a fund of experience and a sense of pace. Things happen fast. I still think it's true that any sense of narrative pacing on my part comes out of the emergency room.
