Both supervisors are in their first terms as members of the board, winning their seats in the county election two years ago. Williams, who lives in Pembroke, represents the county's eastern district, which includes Newport and the portion of the county east of Pembroke. Hedrick, who lives near Pearisburg, represents the county as an at-large member.
For the last year, both men have served on the board's trash disposal committee.
In another matter, county administrator Janet Tuckwiller presented preliminary plans for the proposed Health Department/Court Facility Building, which will be located between the county's administrative offices and the Commissioner of Revenue building. The supervisors anticipate granting their final approval to the project within the next month, and plan to authorize beginning construction on the new facility as soon as possible after that.
Tuckwiller also reported that two county employees have been trained to handle the billing process for the county's trash disposal service and that the first bi-monthly bills should be mailed to county residents using the service within the next two weeks.
After executive session the board also announced that the county will hold An auction on February 19 to dispose of surplus heavy equipment.
