CARGILL, John George Jr., 61, of 107 White Oak Circle, Moneta, Smith
Mountain Lake, died Wednesday, January 5, 1994, in a Lynchburg Hospital. He
was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, December 2, 1932, son of the late John G.
Cargill Sr. and Marie Kuhn Cargill. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal
Church and was a retired land surveyor. He is survived by his wife, Massie Lea
Cargill; three sons and daughters-in-law, J. G. Cargill III, M.D., and wife,
Sharon Nance Cargill, Martinsville, William Lea Cargill and wife, Lisa Kay
Cargill, and James Peyton Cargill, all of Roanoke; a daughter and son-in-law,
Nancy Cargill Wilkes, and husband, William W. Wilkes III, Harrisonburg; six
grandchildren, John G. Cargill IV, Hudson H. L. Cargill, Page W. Cargill,
Banks M. D. Cargill, Ryan W. Wilkes and Megan M. Wilkes. Funeral services will
be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at St. Johns Episcopal Church with the Rev. James
A. Creasy officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m.
Thursday at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to either the
Boys Home of Covington, 306 Boys Home Road, Covington, VA 24426 or a favorite
charity.
