\ NAVY SEAMAN RECRUIT RANDALL H. MITCHELL, son of Randall H. Mitchell of 1933 Bellevelle Road, recently completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

\ PFC. NOVAL I. WRIGHT, son of Wright Edward L. and Patricia C. Wright of Roanoke, has completed Army basic training at Fort Leonard in Wood, Mo. and advanced individual training at Fort Lee, Va.

Wright is a 1993 graduate of Patrick Henry High School.

\ REGINALD M. JACKSON, son of Regina and John Jackson Jr. of Roanoke, is participating in Operation Restore Hope in Somalia.

He is serving in Somalia as a boatswain's mate aboard the tank landing ship, USS Cayuga. Jackson is a graduate of William Fleming High School.

\ NAVY SEAMAN ROBERT R. MILLS, son of Kathy Schalau of 5356 Indian Grave Road, recently completed basic training at Recruit Training Command in San Diego.

Mills, a 1993 graduate of Patrick Henry High School, was among the last graduates of the 70-year-old boot camp.

\ ARMY SGT. SUSAN V. KLEINZ, daughter of Charles E. and Barbara L. Brady of 2118 Berkley Ave., has been decorated with the Army Commendation Medal.

The medal is awarded to those who demonstrate outstanding achievement or meritorious service in the performance of their duties.

Klein is a food service specialist.

\ MARINE LANCE CPL. TIMOTHY S. DREWRY, son of Roger W. and Mary A. Drewry of 2842 Huff St., returned from a six-month Western Pacific, Indian Ocean and Persian Gulf deployment aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln.

Drewry is a 1991 graduate of William Byrd High School.

\ PFC. MARK A. WILLARD, son of John S. Willard of 5715 Scenic Hill Drive and Novella L. Whiting of 750 Hemlock Road, has completed Marine recruit training in Parris Island, S.C..

Willard is a 1987 graduate of Cave Spring High School.

\ AIRMAN CHRISTOL D. REYNOLDS, daughter of Rebecca and Reinhold Lucas of 3758 Whispering Lane, recently graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

\ PFC. CHRISTOPHER A. WITTI, son of Catherine L. Witti of 3418 Troxxel Road, recently reported for duty with the Marine Aviation Training Support Group, at Naval Air Station in Lemoore, Calif.

\ PFC. ROBERT S. HALL, son of Robert and Lois Hall of 3528 Leffel Road, recently reported for duty with 4th Combat Engineer Battalion, 4th Marine Division in Lynchburg.

Hall is a 1992 graduate of Cave Spring High School.

\ NAVY SEAMAN BRYAN J. MOSHER, son of Clara Whitlock of 2813 Avenel Ave., has been deployed aboard the USS Thach to Yokusha, Japan.
