RADFORD SOCCER ASSISTANT JOINS STALEY AT ALABAMA

Karen McGrath has withdrawn from consideration to become the women's soccer coach at Radford University and will join her former boss, Don Staley, at Alabama.

McGrath, a former Highlanders player, was Staley's top women's assistant at Radford this season and was one of the favorites to succeed him as head coach.

Staley coached the men's and women's soccer teams at Radford before taking the women's job at Alabama in December.

Radford athletic director Chuck Taylor said the school plans to advertise the men's and women's positions separately.
