USAir on Thursday listed flights between Norfolk and Newark and Greensboro and Newark among 18 city-pair markets for the first phase of its introduction of a new short-haul experiment, designed to reduce operating costs. No Roanoke flights were included. Beginning Feb. 16, USAir will reduce to as low as 25 minutes from the current average of 45 minutes the amount of time the planes are on the ground. Passenger check-in and boarding procedures also will be adjusted for more efficient service.
