OBIT SANDIDGE, ROBERT M.

SANDIDGE, Robert M., 74, of Radford, passed away Thursday, January 6, 1993, at Radford Community Hospital. He was a retired teacher, principal, assistant supervisor for the Virginia State Department of Education, and a member of the Roanoke Shriners organization. He was born in Lynchburg, February 12, 1919. He earned his undergraduate degree at Lynchburg College and his masters at the University of Virginia. He served with the 8th Air Force in Europe from 1942 to 1945 as an engineer on B17's. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Williams Sandidge of Radford; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Jill Sandidge of Pulaski, Thomas and Pat Sandidge of Radford; three brothers, H.H. Sandidge of Richmond, William T. Sandidge of Lynchburg, F. Brent Sandidge of Midlothian; four grandchildren, Sally, Michael, Kristi and Katie. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 8, 1994, 1:30 p.m. from The Grace Episcopal Church, Fourth and Harvey Streets in Radford, with the Rev. Claud McCauley and the Rev. Stephen Weston officiating. A reception will be held in the church Parish Hall following the memorial service where the family will receive friends who are present. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Westview Cemetery in Radford. There will be no formal visiting hours at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Grace Episcopal Church, 210 Fourth Street, Radford, Va. 24141. DeVilbiss Funeral Home in Radford is handling arrangements.
