OBIT MINTER, JOAN ROHR

MINTER, Joan Rohr, 67, of Rt. 5, Box 58, Martinsville, died Thursday, January 6, 1994, at her residence. She was born March 24, 1925, in Alum Bridge, W.Va. to the late Sherwood Rohr and Emma Will Rohr. An avid geneologist, Mrs. Minter compiled the most complete and accurate accounting of the decedants of Silas Minter, a pioneer settler of Henry Co. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Surviving are husband, Horatio D. Minter of the home; daughters, Diane Dry, Durham, N.C., Barbara Parker, Greensboro, N.C., Judy Simmons, Montgomery, Ala., Paula Boling, Blacksburg, Va.; son, Terry Stout, Martinez, Ga.; sisters, Davita Kisner, St. Cloud, Fla., Roberta Riggs, Alum Bridge, W.Va.; brothers, Stephen Rohr, Huntsville, Ala., Dave Rohr, Paris, Ky.; stepchildren, Louise Dudley, Lynchburg, Va., Pat White, Lynchburg, Va., Ellen Boone, Martinsville, Va., Rosemary Fox, Wadsworth, Ohio, Tim Minter, Amherst, Va., H.D. Minter, Jr., Lexington, Ky.; 31 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday 1:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Paul Maier officiating. The family will receive friends at McKee Funeral Home Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home. Prayer service will be 8 p.m. Saturday at McKee Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in Minter Family Cemetery.
