FESTIVAL OF NEW WORKS

The Norfolk Southern Festival of New Works will open Jan. 13 with ``The Straight Man,'' the winner of the 1993 Mill Mountain Theatre New Play Competition.

The annual festival brings to the stage a full production of the winning play, plus staged readings of three other new plays. Performances take place in Mill Mountain Theatre's Theatre B at 20 E. Church Ave. in downtown Roanoke.

``The Straight Man'' by Paul Sambol will open Jan. 13 with a preview and will continue on Jan. 14 through 30. Tickets are $10-$12. The staged readings will be Feb. 1-6, and tickets to those are $5.
