OBIT AUSTIN, ROBERT ELEXANDER
AUSTIN, Robert Elexander, ("Eck"), 79, of Roanoke, died Thursday, January
6, 1994. Mr. Austin was preceded in death by his parents, James T. and Ruth E.
Austin; his brothers, Richard, Lloyd, Alfred and Lee Austin. He was a member
of the Dokies Lodge Pythians and Odd Fellow Lodge, and was a member of Oakland
Baptist Church, serving as secretary-treasurer of his Sunday school
department. He was a retired foreman from East End Shops of Norfolk and
Western Railway, with 43 years of service. Surviving are his wife of 56 years,
Dotsie E. Austin; his daughter and son-in-law, Judy A. and Jack W. Akers,
Roanoke County; his granddaughter and her husband, Kimberly D. and James D.
Dickinson, Roanoke County; two brothers, Howard M. Austin, Arthur J. Austin,
both of Roanoke; a sister, Helen M. Akers, Rocky Mount. Funeral services will
be held at Oakey's North Chapel, Monday, January 10, 11:30 a.m., with the Rev.
Kelly Dampeer officiating. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Sunday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Oakey's
North Chapel.
