OBIT MUSSELMAN, RALPH A.

MUSSELMAN, Ralph A., 58, of Troutville, died Friday, January 7, 1994, at his home. He was the son of the late Earl Thomas and Helen Mabes Musselman. He was a retired building inspector for Bedford Co. and a retired home builder. He was a member of the Williamson Road Masonic Lodge AF&AM #163 and a member of the American Federation of Musicians Local 165. Mr. Musselman was a former member of the Monroe Junior High Band and other bands under the direction of Andrew Hull. He was a U.S. Marine veteran where he served as first trumpeter in the President's Band. He was #6 in the nation in Flat Track Motorcycle Racing; and was also well known with the S.C.C.A. for his sport car racing. He was an active member of the Rainbow Forest Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mureline Chewning Musselman of Owen's and Company Realtors; two sons, Ralph A. Musselman II, Vinton; Robert (Bobby) E. Musselman of Troutville; brother and sister-in-law, Paul W. and Betty Jean Musselman of Bristol, Tenn.; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Betty Musselman Short of Lexington, Kentucky, Janet Musselman Bowles of Roanoke, Evelyn Musselman and Jerry Robertson of Salem; mother-in-law, Katherine Doris Chewning, Roanoke; brother-in-law and his wife, Ronald Kyle Chewning and Shirley of Roanoke. Funeral services will be at Rainbow Forest Baptist Church, 2 p.m. Monday, with the Rev. Rick Via and Rev. Kenneth Butterworth officiating. Interment with masonic rites by Williamson Road Lodge #163 in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Harry T. Haskins Jr., Ronnie Cormany, Wayne Utt, Tom Tomsic, Johnny King, David Morgan, Mike Ranson, Cary Rutledge. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's North Chapel.
