MAN IS ROBBED AT GUNPOINT AT ATM

A man reported he was robbed as he walked to his car after getting money from an ATM machine Saturday afternoon.

Roanoke County police Det. D.J. Herrick said the victim - whose name was not released - completed an ATM transaction at the First Union National Bank branch at 3862 Electric Road S.W. and was on his way back to his vehicle when a man approached with a handgun and demanded the money.

The suspect took the cash and then asked the victim to return to the ATM and withdraw more, Herrick said. When the victim said he had withdrawn the maximum amount he was allowed, the robber fled, according to Herrick.
