HILLSVILLE MAN CHARGED IN CARROLL COUNTY DEATH

A Carroll County man was shot and killed just before 8 p.m. Saturday inside a trailer on Bee Line Road.

William Gravley was shot by a man after Gravley allegedly forced his way inside to talk to an unidentified woman, according to state police Sgt. Mike Church.

Kevin Phillips, 20, of Hillsville, was arrested and charged with the shooting late Saturday, police said. Phillips was at the scene when police arrived and was arrested after several hours of questioning by investigators.

Gravley reportedly was under a restraining order to stay away from the woman, Church said.

Phillips, after being assaulted, retreated down a hallway in the trailer. Gravley followed and was shot, police said.
