OBIT SMYTHERS, TENSON DELP
SMYTHERS, Tenson Delp, 73, of Route 1, Ivanhoe, died Saturday, January 8,
1994 in the Twin County Community Hospital, Galax. Mr. Smythers had 45 years
of service with the Applachian Power Company and 20 years of service with the
National Weather Bureau as a Weather Watcher. He is survived by his wife, Faye
L. Smythers, Ivanhoe; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Rick Phibbs, Galax;
granddaughter, Christa Phibbs; sister, Virginia Smythers; brother, Gleason
Smythers, Pulaski. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the
Vaughan-Guynn Chapel, Galax, with Ministers, Rev. Charles Bolling and the Rev.
Bob Billingsly officiating with burial in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Fries. The
family will receive friends at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home, Galax from 7 to
9 p.m. Monday.
