OBIT WHITTAKER, DONALD HENRY SR.
WHITTAKER, Donald Henry Sr., 68, of Meadowview, formerly of Tazewell, died
Saturday, January 8, 1994 at his home. Born in Tazewell, he was a son of the
late Marcus Landon and Katherine Molisie Blackwell Whittaker. He was a Master
Mason and member of the Corinthian Masonic Lodge #416 A.F.M. of New Port, S.C.
He was a retired supervisor at the Catawba Nuclear Power Plant for the Duke
Power Company of the Carolinas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hylda
Morgan Whittaker and one brother, Garland Whittaker. Survivors include two
sons, Don H. Whittaker Jr. of Paintsville, Ky., Charles L. Whittaker of
Conway, S.C.; one daughter, Melissa Whittaker Childers of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.;
two brothers, E.H. Whittaker of Mt. Airy, N.C., Raymond Whittaker of Tazewell;
one sister, Ruth Whittaker Counts of Melbourne, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren; a special friend, Mildred Parker and family of Glade
Springs. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 10, 1994 at 8 p.m.
from the Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with the Rev. John
Price and the Rev. Tom Sullivan officiating. A masonic service will follow
conducted by members of the Tazewell Masonic Lodge #62 A.F.&A.M. Interment
will be Tuesday, January 11, 1994 at 11 a.m. at the Highland Memory Gardens in
Dublin. Friends may call at the Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell
after 6 p.m. Monday, January 10, 1994. Memorial donations may be made to the
Tazewell Cancer Fund, c/o Bank of Tazewell County, Attn: Martha Whitten, P.O.
Box 687, Tazewell, Va. 24651.
