The culinary cut-ups, whose show is nationally syndicated, were invited to appear on the morning news program by ``Today'' producer Andrew Goldstein. ``He called me and said that he's a real fan of our show,'' Bly said. ``It really blew my socks off.''
Johnson and Bly will fly to New York on Thursday, and they will be met by a limousine and taken to the ``Today'' studios in Manhattan.
Bly said he was impressed by their impending swoop into national celebrity. ``I asked them if we'd have to drag cans of food with us for our recipes,'' he said. ``They said, `no, you will fax us your recipes, and our prop people will get everything you need.'
``I tell you, here at Blue Ridge Public TV, Johnson and I even shovel the parking lot when we need to.''
Bly said he and his partner are looking forward to their weekend in the Big Apple, hoping to extend their visit in order to see a Broadway play.
The pair's cooking segment is expected to be broadcast between 8:30 to 9 a.m., in the final half-hour of the show.
