Before the film began, two previews were shown, including one for an animation festival.
"All of sudden, I see this guy on the screen - animated," Rosenblum said.
Graphics artist Michael Trujillo produced the 1 1/2-minute cartoon and asked the theater manager for permission to show it Dec. 30. The manager agreed.
Trujillo, 27, said he was watching Rosenblum the whole time.
"I'm thinking, like, `She just doesn't get it,' " he said. "All of a sudden, the laughing stopped. She stopped breathing. And I saw a tear rolling down her cheek."
Prodded by the crowd of about 200 people, a tearful Rosenblum, 25, gave Trujillo her answer: Yes.
Actress Louise Fletcher used action to remember her deaf parents.
Fletcher helped break ground for a new building for St. John's Church for the Deaf, the congregation that her Episcopalian parents founded in Birmingham, Ala., more than 60 years ago.
Fletcher said her father, who lost his hearing at age 4, loved to use his speaking skills to help other deaf people. The actress' mother was deaf from birth. But her parents became so skilled at reading lips and speaking that the four Fletcher children communicated with their parents mainly by speaking.
Fletcher won an Academy Award for her portrayal of Nurse Ratched in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" in 1976 and used sign language on the nationally televised award show to thank her parents, who since have died.
Move over, Rush Limbaugh. Jerry Brown is joining the ranks of radio talk show hosts.
The former California governor and presidential candidate has bought a warehouse in Oakland, Calif., where he will have a studio for a syndicated daily show. He estimates it will need about a year of renovation, so he is negotiating for a temporary studio elsewhere in Oakland to launch his show on Jan. 31.
The two-hour show, intended as an alternative to conservative Limbaugh, will be carried by the Talk America Radio Network, based in Marlboro, Mass.
