HIGH COURT REJECTS DEATH ROW APPEAL

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday rejected the appeal of Johnny Watkins Jr., who was sentenced to die in Virginia's electric chair for the 1983 murders of two convenience-store clerks.

The justices did not comment on their reasons for turning down Watkins' appeal. Watkins, now 32, was convicted of capital murder in the deaths of Betty Jean Barker and Carl Douglas Buchanan.o
