OBIT STAPLETON, BARBARA MABES

STAPLETON, Barbara Mabes, 64, of Roanoke, died Saturday, January 8, 1994. She quietly went to be with her Lord. The angel from atop our family tree has left us but the light of her love will always shine in all who knew and loved her. She was a member of Edgewood Christian Church and active in the Young at Heart's Club. She was the daughter of the late Reed O. Mabes and Ada L. Mabes. She was also preceded in death by brother, James Mabes and sisters, Helen Musselman, Elizabeth Stinnett, Margaret Basham, Altha Thurman and Lillian Mabes. Surviving are her husband, Harry Stapleton; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Becky Stapleton; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Larry Cecil and daughter, Cindy Arrington, all of Roanoke. Also surviving are five beloved grandchildren, Erin and Karri Cecil, Justin Arrington and Lindsay and Josh Stapleton; one brother, Marvin Mabes; and sisters, Hazel Ensor and Frances Vessey. She also leaves behind many special nieces and nephews who were dear to her. Services for our angel will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, 1993 at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel with the Rev. Larry Atkins and Dr. Douglas Keffer officiating. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday and Tuesday night at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.
