OBIT HARPER, ARCHIE F. SR.

HARPER, Archie F. Sr., 90, of Saltville, died Monday, January 10, 1994, in the Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion, Va. Mr. Harper was a lifetime farmer in Smyth County, Virginia, a member of the Riverview Presbyterian Church and retired from the Olin Corporation. He is survived by one son, Mr. Archie F. (Midge) Harper Jr., Saltville; four sisters, Mrs. Leo (Clara) Smith, Roanoke, Mrs. Paul (Lizzie) Smith, Marion, Mrs. Henry (Bessie) Davidson, Seven Mile Ford, Mrs. Lawrence (Blanche) Maiden, Bristol; 8 grandchildren, Mrs. Jim (Vicki) Montgomery, Saltville, Mr. Marshall K. Harper, Chilhowie, Mrs. Bill (April) Mitchell, Troutdale, Mrs. Clayborne (Jody) Olinger, Saltville, Mr. Joseph F. Harper, Winston-Salem, N.C., Mr. J. Craig Harper, Saltville, Mr. Bradley M. Harper, Saltville, Ms. Courtney S. Harper, Richlands; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, 1994, in the D.R. Henderson Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Harold Puckett officiating. Burial will follow in the Elizabeth Cemetery in Saltville, Va. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday evening in the D.R. Henderson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saltville Rescue Squad or Troutdale Rescue Squad.
