CLINTON READY TO PICK NEW DRUG CHIEF

President Clinton is expected to tap New York State Police Superintendent Thomas Constantine in the next few days to become the new head of the Drug Enforcement Administration, administration officials said Tuesday.

If confirmed by the Senate, Constantine would take over a 3,500-agent organization that has a presence in 53 countries worldwide, including agents in all 50 states. He would succeed former U.S. District Judge Robert Bonner.
