The Knights, who trailed by 15 points in the second half, cut their deficit to five with about four minutes left. But the visitors pulled away with free throws, making 15 of 20 in the fourth quarter. Michael McGuire was 6-for-6 and Obenchain 4-for-4 in the quarter.
Dusty Beekman led Cave Spring (5-6) with 31 points. Matt Metheny added 23 and James Irvin 16.
Chris Childress had 20 for Byrd (5-3). Donnie Childress had 17, McGuire 16 and Brad Berry 12.

HOT SPRINGS - The Highlanders didn't make a field goal in the fourth quarter of their Pioneer district victory over the Chargers.
Instead, Glenvar (4-2, 2-0) made free throws - 15 of 20, to be exact - in the period to seal the outcome. Brad Melton led the way with 12-of-14 shooting in the quarter. He finished with a season-high 23 points and grabbed 16 rebounds.
Billy Thomas and Michael Edwards led Bath County (4-4, 0-2) with 14 points apiece.
\ Northside 84\ Blacksburg 62
Nathan Hungate scored 30 points, including six 3-pointers, as the Vikings downed the Indians in non-district action.
Northside hit 14 of 28 field-goal attempts in the first half and Blacksburg sank 17 of 27. The Vikings led 41-39 at halftime.
Northside (9-1) wore down the Indians in the second half.
Justin Porterfield scored 17 points for the Vikings.
Jay Safford led Blacksburg (0-5) with 26 points.

DALEVILLE - The Cavaliers broke open a close game in the second half en route to a non-district victory over the Cougars.
Lord Botetourt (6-2) got a career-high 16 points from Billy Arthur and 12 points and 17 rebounds from Jeff Cronise. The board work of Cronise helped give the Cavaliers a 39-13 advantage. Covington did not have an offensive rebound in the second half and had only three in the game.
Ryan Salvi had 16 for Lord Botetourt, including a 4-for-8 performance from 3-point range. Shannon Williams added 15 points for the Cavaliers.
Dan Rogers, who scored 47 points against Greenbrier East (W.Va.) two games ago, led Covington (3-5) with 19 points. But he did not have a field goal in the second half. Carey Rogers added 13 points.
Lord Botetourt was 7-for-15 from beyond the 3-point arc.
James River 63\ Highland 50
MONTEREY - Three players scored in double figures as the Knights notched their first victory of the season, a Pioneer District decision over the Rams. Jason Peery scored 16, Keith Bryant 13 and Isaac Minnis 12 for James River (1-4, 1-1). Highland (1-3, 0-2) was led by John Hull's 11 points.

Deon Royer hit a 3-pointer with one second remaining that lifted the Celtics over the visiting Chiefs in the Virginia Independent Conference.
Royer finished with 10 points for Catholic (4-3, 2-1). Jemarh Patterson had 17 points, including nine in the fourth quarter. He had 15 rebounds to lead the Celtics, who outrebounded Carlisle 47-24.
Kevin Warren scored 25 points, Rod Mitchell 17 and Hugh Haskins 11 to pace the Chiefs (2-9, 1-4).
Catholic shot 32 percent from the floor to 40 percent by Carlisle.

Monty Smith scored 19 and Robbie Rea added a career-high 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Raiders to a Virginia Independent Conference victory over visiting Timberlake Christian.
Jon Prillaman had 13 points and Hal Johnson added nine, plus 10 rebounds, for North Cross (3-4, 2-1).
Timberlake (2-4, 0-2) was paced by Jon Phillips with 17 and Jason Spear with 10.
Parry McCluer 90\ Craig County 60
NEW CASTLE - The Fighting Blues used their size advantage as they coasted to a Pioneer District victory.
At least 60 of Parry McCluer's 90 points were scored in the paint, and Craig County (1-2, 0-1) didn't help its cause by committing 20 turnovers.
Nathan Baker had a game-high 32 points for Parry McCluer (6-1, 2-0). Kris Carter and Mike McElroy added 14 apiece for the Fighting Blues.
James Fisher and Robby Huffman led the Rockets with 16 points apiece.
