USAIR RULED NEGLIGENT IN FATAL AIRPORT CRASH

A federal judge ruled Tuesday that USAir was negligent in a crash in which 27 people died at La Guardia Airport in 1992. The compensatory damages to be awarded to survivors and to families of the dead have not been determined.

Judge Thomas D. Lambros of U.S. District Court in Cleveland also directed a jury to consider whether the carrier is liable for punitive damages. - New York Times
