OBIT AYERS, OAKIE MARTIN

AYERS, Oakie Martin, 90, of Friendship Manor, formerly of Morton Ave. S.E., Roanoke, died Tuesday, January 11, 1994 in a local hospital. She was a member of the Waverly Place Baptist Church and was predeceased by a daughter, Marie A. Jones. Surviving are her husband, Everett Ayers; three sons and daughters-in-law, Lewis Edward and Frances O. Ayers, Bolling Green, David Swanson and Louise Ayers, Troutville, Thomas L. and Virgie M. Ayers, Roanoke; four grandsons, David S. Ayers Jr., Roanoke, David Jones, Colonial Heights, Carty W. Jones, Chester, Lee Jones, Fredericksburg; granddaughter, Judy Jones, Colonial Heights. Funeral services will be at Oakey's Vinton Chapel 1 p.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Charles Hoffler and the Rev. William E. Hungate officiating. Interment will be in the M. L. Martin Cemetery at Radford Baptist Church in Bedford County. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
