OBIT SCHOENTHAL, SIEGBERT

SCHOENTHAL, Siegbert, 92, a resident of Bland County for the past 21 years and a life long farmer, died Monday, January 10, 1994, in Bland, Va. He was born in Schott, Ostfriesland, Germany on February 1, 1901 and was a son of the late Nathan and Goldina von de Wall Schoenthal. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Vienna Schoenthal, December 16, 1990. Surviving are two sons, Nanno Schoenthal, and Gerhard Schoenthal both of Bland; two daughters, Foli S. Taylor, Bland and Dina S. Butcher, Bismark, N.D.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Newberry Funeral Home in Bland, Wednesday, from 6 to 8 p.m., ending with a brief memorial service conducted by the Rev. Laurie McAlpine. The family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made to the Bland County Rescue Squad, Rt. 1 Box 75, Bastian, Va. 24314. Newberry Funeral Home in Bland is in charge of the arrangements.
