The Arts Council of the Blue Ridge is accepting entries for the 15th annual Roanoke City Art Show, which will be on display on March 5 through April 17 at the Art Museum of Western Virginia in Roanoke.
The exhibit is open to artists and craftsmen from the Blue Ridge region who are 18 years or older. The juror for this show will be Susan Lubowsky, executive director of the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art in Winston-Salem, N.C.
A $500 award will be presented to one artist whose work is selected ``Best in Show'' by the juror, and a $100 award will go to the winner of the ``People's Choice'' award. Five $200 Awards of Excellence also will be awarded by the juror.
Entries must be received by Jan. 28 at 5 p.m. For entry information, call 342-5790.
Lecture at Hollins
Phi Beta Kappa Scholar Miranda Marvin will deliver a lecture titled ``Morals and Marbles: The Parthenon Comes to London'' on Jan. 18 at 4 p.m. in Babcock Auditorium at Hollins College.
Marvin is the director of Wellesley's program in classical and Near Eastern archaeology and is a professor or art and classics there. Her work focuses on the relationship of Roman art to Greek art, and she has done field work in Greece, Israel and Cyprus.
