Teacher Bill Metevier said his decision not to present the play at Concord High School's annual spring musical wasn't because of the girls' complaints.
"We're just not ready to do that type of comedy," he said. "I don't believe we are able to do a piece that is so satirical."
Student Katie Pike said she understood the piece was satirical, "but that doesn't mean it's not sexist."
Students were uneasy about dialogue that included:
Daisy Mae singing, "My aim in life is to be a good wife."
Earthquake Magoon saying to another man: "What's your pleasure? But I see you've already brought it [a woman] with you."
