Marty Early scored a game-high 29 points for Rockbridge County (5-2), and Kenny Lewis added 21. Stu Hatter led Stuarts Draft (0-5) with 22 points.

DALEVILLE - Lord Botetourt broke open a close game in the second half en route to a non-district victory over Covington.
The Cavaliers (6-2) got a career-high 16 points from Billy Arthur and 12 points and 17 rebounds from Jeff Cronise, who helped Lord Botetourt to a 39-13 advantage on the boards. Covington did not have an offensive rebound in the second half and had only three in the game.
Dan Rogers, who scored 47 points against Greenbrier East two games ago, led Covington (3-5) with 19 points, but did not have a field goal in the second half. Carey Rogers added 13. \

MARTINSVILLE - Warrick Scott had 19 points to lead four players in double figures as Laurel Park routed Gretna in a Piedmont District game.
Scott had nine points in the second quarter, when the Lancers built a 23-point halftime lead.
Girard Foster had 16 and Corey and Darrel Wilson 11 each for the Lancers (8-3, 7-1). William Merritt led Gretna with 16. Laurel Park outrebounded Gretna 50-29.

DRY FORK - The Trojans converted on 19 of 21 free throws in the fourth quarter, the Bengals only 10 of 20 in the Piedmont district game.
Tunstall (5-6, 4-4) was led by Quan Breedlove and Khris Law, who scored 23 points apiece.
Art Wade led Bassett (5-4, 4-3) with 25 points. \

PEARISBURG - Mitch Reed's layup with two seconds left in overtime gave Giles a Mountain Empire District victory over Bland.
With six seconds left, Reed inbounded to Marty Smith, who tossed back to Reed for the winning score.
Bland's Shannon Havens tied the score at 57 in regulation by making one of two free throws with about a minute left, and the teams traded turnovers after that. Giles (1-3, 1-2) had the final possession but lost the ball out of bounds as time expired.
At the free-throw line, Giles was 10-for-25, and Bland (4-5, 3-3) was 14-for-30.

HOT SPRINGS - The Highlanders didn't make a field goal in the fourth quarter their Pioneer district victory over the Chargers.
Instead, Glenvar (4-2, 2-0) made 15 of 20 free throws in the fourth period. Brad Melton led the way with 12-of-14 foul shooting in the final quarter and finished with a season-high 23 points and 16 rebounds.
Billy Thomas and Michael Edwards led Bath County (4-4, 0-2) with 14 points apiece. \

RURAL RETREAT - Rusty Crigger scored 18 points and Bradley Guinn added 14 to lead the Eagles (5-0, 4-0) to a Hogoheegee District victory over the Cavaliers. Senior center Stephen Pratt had eight rebounds and seven blocked shots for Rural Retreat. Travis Gray led Holston (0-9, 0-5) with 26 points, and Travis Owens added 13. \

INDEPENDENCE - Keith Weatherman started a decisive 13-2 run in the fourth quarter with a dunk, and the Blue Devils pulled away for a Mountain Empire District victory over the Pioneers.
Grayson County (8-2, 6-1) led 58-53 heading to the final period, then took control in the opening 3:29 of the period.
Dyer Jackson scored a game-high 22 points for Fort Chiswell (1-5, 1-5).

Deon Royer hit a 3-pointer with one second remaining that lifted the Celtics to a victory over the visiting Chiefs (2-9, 1-4) in the Virginia Independent Conference.
Royer finished with 10 points for Catholic (4-3, 2-1). Jemarh Patterson had 17 points, including nine in the fourth quarter, and 15 rebounds to lead the Celtics who outrebounded Carlisle 47-24. \

NEW CASTLE - The Fighting Blues used their size advantage as they coasted to a Pioneer District win.
At least 60 of Parry McCluer's 90 points were scored in the paint, and Craig County (1-2, 0-1) didn't help its cause, committing 20 turnovers.
Nathan Baker had a game-high 32 points for Parry McCluer (6-1, 2-0). Kris Carter and Mike McElroy added 14 apiece for the fighting blues. \

GLADE SPRING - The Maroons led the entire second half in winning a Hogoheegee District contest.
Jeff Bourne had 24 points and Aaron Andrews added 17 to lead George Wythe (4-3, 3-0). The Maroons outscored PH in every quarter and led 43-36 at halftime. \
