BATH BEATS JAMES RIVER

Billy Thomas scored 21 points as visiting Bath County rolled past James River 63-52 in a Pioneer District boys' basketball game Thursday night.

The Chargers led 31-18 at halftime and coasted through the third quarter. The Knights mounted a rally at the beginning of the fourth quarter, scoring 13 straight points to cut Bath County's lead to eight but the Chargers (5-4 overall, 1-2 in the district) held on for the win.

Brian Shorter scored 16 points to lead James River (1-5, 1-2). Shahan Burrell added 14 and Jason Peery chipped in 10. \
