DOWDY, Mildred L., 87, of Christiansburg, died Thursday, January 13, 1994
in Montgomery Regional Hospital. Born in Montgomery county the daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. C.B. Linkous, she was preceded in death by her husband,
Sidney A. Dowdy and a son, Posey L. Dowdy. She is survived by two sons and a
daughter-in-law, Marshall W. Linkous, Hampton, Robert C. and Irene Dowdy,
Christiansburg; daughters and sons-in-law, Hazel Reed, Magdalene Harris,
Margaret and Robert Gearheart, Thelma and Charles Hutchinson, all of
Christiansburg, Kathleen and Charles Melton, Max Meadows; two sisters, Lossie
(Bill) Huffman, Christiansburg, Elsie Bowles, Ironto; 26 grandchildren; 43
great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a special friends,
Betty Robinson, Christiansburg. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday,
January 15, at the Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church conducted by Rev.
Jerry Sloss with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive
friends from 7 until 9 Friday evening at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home.
