OBIT-WILKERSON, BERTHA WOOD

WILKERSON, Bertha Wood, 85, of 816 Main St., Amherst, died Wednesday, January 12, 1994 in Virginia Baptist Hospital. Born in Lynchburg, November 6, 1908, she was a daughter of the late Omar J. Wood and Nora Hutcherson Wood and was the widow of Edward C. Wilkerson. Mrs. Wilkerson was a retired supervisor with the Wil-Ko Uniform Company and was a member of Bandy Bottom Christian Church. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Barbara W. and Jim Furr of Forest, Marlene W. and C.W. Nash of Madison Heights; three sisters, Myrtle W. Ewers of Madison Heights, Annie W. Thomas of Roanoke, Gertie Mae W. Blankinship of Salem; three grandchildren, Kimbra N. Stinson and her husband, Brenton of Jonesboro Ga., Lisa F. Coleman and her husband, Al of Lynchburg, James N. Furr Jr. of Forest; two great-grandsons, Will Coleman and Stuart Coleman. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. G. David Vaughan officiating. The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Diuguid Rivermont Chapel, and other times at the residence of her daughter, 90 Clays Crossing, Forest. The family suggests that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association, 404 Eighth St., N.E., Suite C, Charlottesville, Va. 22901, or the Amherst Rescue Squad.
