OBIT-HALL, HERMAN M. SR.

HALL, Herman M. Sr. 72, of Ringgold, Ga., passed away at his residence Monday, January 10, 1994. Mr. Hall was born in Chattooga County, Ga. August 22, 1921, a son of the late Cecil Robert and Sarah Ida Rose Hall. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corp. He was a retired Mechanical Engineer and a member of the Lyerly First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Jean Gilreath Hall in 1984. He attended Spartan Aeronautical College, Tulsa, Okla. following which he formed Halcraft Boat Co. He was later associated with Bigelow Sanford Carpet Co., traveling extensively in Europe, South Africa and Australia putting into operation tufted carpet plants for licensees. He was also Process Engineer for Burlington Industries of Glasgow, Va. before returning to Ga. He retired as Vice President of engineering and development for Gaston County Carpet Machinery Division, following retirement he remained active in the engineering field with his consulting co., H. Hall, Inc. He was a charter member of past president of the Ft. Oglethorpe Rotary Club, being chosen as Rotarian of the year in 1992 and was also a Paul Harris Fellow. He was also a charter member and president of the Big Birds Model Flying Club. He is survived by a daughter, Mary Hall DeFoor, Lithia Springs, Ga.; a son, Hal Hall, Ringgold, Ga.; two granddaughters, Myranda L. DeFoor, Hailey Nichole Hall; one great-grandson, Matthew Hall DeFoor; one sister, Mary Hall Smith, Summerville, Ga. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of J.D. Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Bryant and the Rev. J.B. Cantrell officiating with interment in the Summerville Cemetery. Arrangements by J.D. Hill Funeral Home, Summerville, Ga.
