BEATING CHRISTIANSBURG POLICE INVESTIGATING BEATING

Town police are investigating the beating of a Christiansburg man who was found severly injured lying on the floor of his trailer Thursday evening.

Police say the were called to Lot 1 of Sue's Trailer Park near Hills Shopping Center at about 8 p.m. They found Terry Lee Elswick, 31, on the floor. It appeared he had been struck in the head, police said.

Elswick was flown to Roanoke Memorial Hospital on LifeGuard-10. Police say they have obtained a malicious wounding warrant against a suspect, but the person had not been apprehended by Friday afternoon.

Elswick was being treated in the hospital's neurointensive care unit and was listed in critical condition Friday afternoon, a nursing supervisor said.
