E.C. GLASS BREAKS PULASKI IN OVERTIME

Brad Adams hit two free throws with four seconds remaining to give E.C. Glass a 64-62 non-district overtime victory over Pulaski County high school boys' basketball Friday.

The Cougars (3-5) missed a game-tying shot as time expired.

Derrick Reid led the Hilltoppers (4-4) with 22 points.

Matt Burns led the Cougars with 18. Tyrone Hash scored 15, and Jamar McNair poured in 13.

The Cougars committed 21 turnovers. \

Auburn 62

Giles 45

RINER - The Eagles bolted to a 22-10 lead after one quarter, and coasted to a Mountain Empire District victory over the Spartans.

Terry Millirons led the way with 16 points, Jon Reed added 15, and Bradley Hudgins scored 12 for Auburn (8-2, 7-1), Group A's seventh-ranked team.

Matt Davis, a 6-foot-7 reserve Auburn center, had a school record eight blocked shots. Auburn played for the fifth time in eight days.

Bucky Burton and Patrick Steele led Giles (1-5, 1-4) with 13 points apiece.

Rocky Gap 64

ROCKY GAP - Shane Widener scored eight of his 19 points in the third quarter as the Blue Devils beat the Eagles in a Mountain Empire District game.

Grayson County (9-2, 7-1) trailed 34-29 at halftime, but used a 17-8 third period to take a 46-42 lead. Bryan Boyer led the Blue Devils with 22 points and 20 rebounds.

Rocky Gap (2-9, 2-5) was outrebounded 48-29. Eric Faulkner led the Eagles with 18 points and five steals. \

Bland 53

Galax 44

GALAX - Guard Kevin King scored 17 of his game-high 22 points in the second half, propelling the Rockets to the comeback Mountain Empire District win over the Maroon Tide.

Galax (3-5, 3-3) led 25-15 at halftime, but Bland (5-5, 4-3) rallied behind King. The Rockets outscored the cold-shooting hosts 17-6 in the third quarter and 21-13 in the fourth period to win going away.

Shannon Havens added 11 points and Jeff Selfe 10 for Bland. Tito Crockett paced Galax with 10. \
