Hungate was fouled while making a 3-point field goal and sank the ensuing free throw to help give the Vikings the victory.
The Mountaineers (5-5 overall, 0-2 in the Blue Ridge) had cut a third-quarter deficit of 14 to eight before missing both free throws on an intentional foul.
Todd Wheatley scored 22 points and grabbed 17 rebounds for Alleghany. Todd Crawford had 16 points and Jermaine Winston added 15.
Maurice Garrison scored a career-high 21 points for Northside (10-1, 2-0). Dana Gibson added 17 points, Hungate had 15 and Justin Porterfield scored 13. NORTHSIDE (79)

BEDFORD - Greg Reynolds scored all 12 of his points in the second half as the Minutemen broke open a tie game to rout the Devils in the Seminole District.
Rustburg (1-6, 1-6) held a 10-point lead in the second quarter before Liberty (9-1, 9-1) began its comeback.
The Minutemen used a full-court press for all four quarters, and the defense took its toll in the second half.
Bruce Jacobs added 10 points for Liberty.
Chip Elliott led Rustburg with 14.

LEXINGTON - The Wildcats roared from behind in the fourth quarter, but the Cavaliers made clutch free throws in the final minutes to earn a road victory in the Blue Ridge District.
Lord Botetourt (7-2, 1-1) won with balanced scoring. Ryan Salvi and Jeff Cronise led four players in double figures with 15 and 14 points, respectively.

BUCHANAN - Keith Bryant scored nine of his game-high 26 points in the third quarter as the Knights rolled past Tidewater in a non-district matchup.
Tidewater (8-7) led 24-23 at halftime, but James River (2-5) used a 21-12 third period to take control.
Brian Shorter added 12 points for the Knights. No Tidewater player scored in double figures.

Deon Royer scored a career-high 23 points - 10 in the fourth quarter - as the Celtics beat the Raiders for the first time in three years in a Virginia Independent Conference game. The teams combined for 17 3-point goals.
Roanoke Catholic (5-3, 3-1) led 51-49 after three quarters, then turned up its defensive pressure. Jemarh Patterson added 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Tony Joyce scored 13 points and collected six steals.
Monty Smith led North Cross (4-5, 3-2) with 21 points. The Raiders turned over the ball 17 times.

ALTAVISTA - The Golden Eagles won a tight, high-scoring Seminole District road game, although the Colonels had plenty of late chances to tie the score.
Staunton River (4-4 overall and in the district) was led by a game-high 23 points from Cornelius Foxx. Lynwood (20) and Jeff English (19) combined for another 39 points.
Hunter Hoggatt paced five double-figure scorers for Altavista (4-6, 4-6) with 18 points.
