A Franklin County woman was killed Friday evening in a three-vehicle crash on Virginia 116.

Cherrie Furr Mason, 49, of Route 2, Hardy, died at the scene of the 5:50 p.m. crash just south of Windy Gap Mountain in Franklin County.

Trooper D.W. Stone said Mason's compact car went partly into the southbound lane, sideswiped one car and crashed head-on into a pickup truck driven by Joseph Curtis Brown Jr., 25, of Route 2, Wirtz. Brown was in satisfactory condition early today at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the car that was sideswiped, Christine H. MacBrair, 56, of Route 1, Wirtz, was not injured.
