PULASKI PROGRAM TO AID SPECIAL-EDUCATION STUDENTS

Pulaski County schools have been invited to take part in a federally funded transition program involving special education students.

It will seek ways to develop job competencies and personal skills to help the students secure permanent and gainful employment after graduation.

The program was proposed last spring in a grant proposal to Project UNITE. Pulaski County will get about $14,000 for the program, and will be able to apply for a second year of funding.

Much of the funding would go toward the position of a job coach, to work with about 25 students during afternoons at school and job sites. The position should be filled in time for the spring semester.
