Bankruptcy court gets 5 petitions

Five business petitions have been filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Virginia at Roanoke:

Skeens Fork Coal Co. Inc. of Lebanon asked for liquidation. It had assets of $10,000 and liabilities of $18,546.

Ramona M. Tasios, who operated the former New York Deli at Hillsville, filed for liquidation, listing assets of $27,185 and liabilities of $37,858.

David Alvero Mowrey and Patricia Wells Mowrey of Bluefield filed for reorganization and protection from creditors. David Mowrey operated Data Systems Management. They estimated both assets and liabilities at less than $50,000.

Charles E. Davis Jr. of Richlands, a self-employed sign painter, asked for liquidation. He had assets of $1,400 and liabilities of $12,250.

Lewis Wayne Sweeney and Carolyn Lee Saul Sweeney of Salem filed for liquidation. Lewis Sweeney said he was self-employed. They had assets of $30,468 and liabilities of $39,747. - Staff report

CSI Services Inc., a Martinsville company serving the textile industry, said its CSI Engineering Services division was awarded the ISO 9002 designation Friday and has been registered as having standards-of-quality products and management. The program is administered by the American National Standards Institute and American Society for Quality Control. Designation helps companies compete in international markets.

United Central Industrial Supply Co. Inc. of Big Rock said it has bought assets of Erwin Supply Co., a Shinnston, W.Va., industrial and mine-supply distributor. United Central is a subsidiary of the United Co., a Bristol-based coal and real estate company.
