OBIT VAUGHT, CLYDE W. JR.
VAUGHT, Clyde W. Jr., 69, of Christiansburg, passed away Friday, January
14, 1994, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. Mr. Vaught had retired as
superintendent from the Blacksburg-V.P.I. Sanitation Authority. Clyde was a
World War II veteran of the U.S. Army's 71st Infantry, 44th Division and had
also served as commander of the V.F.W. Post 5311. Mr. Vaught attended the
Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church and was an active supporter of Evangelist
Billy Graham. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Wanda S. Vaught; one son and
daughter-in-law, Michael and Pamela Vaught, Blacksburg; one daughter and
son-in-law, Joyce and Gratton Jones, Oklahoma City, Okla., and one
granddaughter, Danielle Jones, Oklahoma. Also surviving are two sisters, Helen
and Lydia Vaught, both of Blacksburg; one brother, Minor Vaught, Durham, N.C.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 16, 1994, 1 p.m. at the
Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Jerry Sloss officiating.
Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg. The family will
receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Richardson-Horne Funeral
Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be
made to the American Diabetes Association, Inc., 404 8th Street, N.E., Suite
C., Charlottesville, Va. 22902.
