PH BOYS WIN TRACK TITLE

The Patrick Henry boys' and girls' teams made a statement to the rest of the high school track teams in Virginia on Saturday at the Cadet Invitational.

The Patriots finished first in the 39-team boys' field by 13 points over Mount Vernon, and the PH girls' team finished second to champion Garfield.

Jamie Price, named the MVP in running events for boys, won the 55-meter dash for the Patriots with a time of 6.2 seconds and won the 300-meter dash in 36.1 seconds.

Price wasn't the only winner for PH. Jack Edwards won the pole vault by clearing 12 feet, 6 inches, and the 800-meter relay team of Price, Andre Irving, Derrick Terry and Adrian Moore won in 1 minute, 35.1 seconds. Irving also finished second in the long jump with a state-qualifying leap of 22-1.

The Patriots' Armintha Crosby, named the MVP in running events for girls, won the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.0 seconds and the 300-meter dash in 42.6 seconds. The girls 800-meter relay team of Crosby, Cicely Manns, Meredith Bowden and Rhonda Fields won its event in 1:52.3. - Staff report
