ROANOKE TENNIS PLAYER ADVANCES

Roanoke's K.J. Hippensteel won two matches Saturday to advance in the Mid-Atlantic Tennis Association Boys' 14-Under Championships.

Hippensteel, 13, beat Lynchburg's Jete O'Keeffe in straight sets, then beat Andrew Luse of Bethesda, Md., 6-0, 6-2 in the second round.

He will play Claude Grady of Silver Spring, Md., in the quarterfinal round today. The semifinals are at 4 p.m. today, and the championship is 10:30 a.m. Monday. - Staff report
