MINORITIES' STORIES ABOUT RIDING THE RAILS ARE SOUGHT FOR FILM
The recollections of minority ``boxcar babies'' are wanted for inclusion in
a documentary film about young people who rode the rails or hitchhiked around
the country during the Depression. Co-producer Michael Uys, who so far has
received over 2,500 responses almost all from white males, says that in order
to present a balanced picture, he is especially interested in stories from
African-Americans, American Indians, Asian-Americans, Hispanics and women.
If you have a story to share, write or send an audio cassette, including
your age at the time you rode, the years during which you rode and your name,
current address and telephone number to: Lexy Lovell and Michael Uys,
Producers, The American History Project, 300 Hicks St., Brooklyn, N.Y. 11201.
