OBIT BENNETT, ELDWIN FRANKLIN

BENNETT, Eldwin Franklin, ("Bang"), 68, of 418 Brentwood Drive, Covington, died Friday, January 14, 1994 in the Alleghany Regional Hospital, Low Moor. He was born November 11, 1925 in Summers County, W. Va., a son of Frank J. Bennett and the late Blanche Farley Bennett. He was a retired Carman with C. S. X. Transportation, with 40 years of service. A resident of Virginia since 1954, he attended Falling Springs Presbyterian Church, Covington, and was a member of Martha's Chapel Methodist Church in Hinton, W. Va. He was a veteran of World War II. In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Edna E. Bennett Bennett of Covington; one daughter, Mrs. Charles W. (Janet) McNabb of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three stepdaughters, Mrs. M. A. (Barbara) Grimmett of Hinton, W. Va., Mrs. Oliver (Rosemary) Richards, Covington, Mrs. Douglas (Rebecca) Reed, Covington; two stepsons, Warren Cole, Covington, Jerry Cole, Winfield, W. Va.; four sisters, Mildred Meador and Bunice Bolkins, Hinton, W. Va., Frances Sweptson, Huntington, W. Va., Patty Fox, Ballangee, W. Va.; two brothers, Lowell Bennett and Porter Bennett, Hinton, W. Va.; three grandchildren, Billy McNabb, Tanya McNabb and Christy McNabb; 16 stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren. Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by two brothers and an infant son. A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday from the Ronald Meadows Funeral Home Chapel, Hinton, W. Va., with the Rev. Brent Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens, Hinton. Active pallbearers will be grandsons. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge. Visitation will follow Monday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Home, Hinton. Arrangements by Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
